Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu), Nov 22 (ANI): The City Corporation in Coimbatore used a robot to clean manholes. The effort was made to eliminate manual scavenging. The robot can go deep even up to 20-feet inside the drainage and can even detect any poisonous gas inside the manhole. Earlier, Supreme Court had banned the manual scavenging. Speaking on it, Robotics Engineer Rashid said, “We're introducing robots to eradicate manual scavenging that's banned by Supreme Court. Governments are taking steps but not many solutions are available. Whatever the process a human needed to do inside the manhole, now can be done by the robot.”
