Overcoming vaccine hesitancy, tribals in Darjeeling get inoculated in large numbers

Darjeeling (West Bengal), June 13 (ANI): Knowing the importance of vaccines to combat the spread of COVID-19, people from the tribal community working at tea gardens in Phansidewa block of Darjeeling district of West Bengal are participating in large numbers in the inoculation drive to get themselves vaccinated. Dr Anunabha Das, Block Medical Health Officer (BMOH), Phansidewa, said, “We've vaccinated 80-90% of the tea garden population above the 45 years age group. We'll gradually vaccinate others also.” “Tribals are now aware that coronavirus is a pandemic. They're taking vaccines. I have taken too,” said Prakash Kujur after getting COVID-19 vaccine.
