Over 42,000 people evacuated, no casualties during rescue operation: Kolhapur SP

Kolhapur (Maharashtra), July 26 (ANI): Kolhapur SP Shailesh Balkawade, on July 26, informed that over 42,000 people have been evacuated and no casualties were reported during the rescue operation. “Over 42,000 people evacuated in Kolhapur district. No casualties during rescue. 3 persons died due to drowning during rain,” said the SP. In the wake of flood situation in Maharashtra’s Kolhapur, the district authority had closed NH-48. However, one lane is open for essential services. Speaking on it, Kolhapur SP said, “NH-48 was closed for last 4 days. Now, water level has receded to 2.5 feet. One lane has been opened. On the 2nd lane, water level is still at 3.5-4 feet. We are allowing essential service vehicles only”, He added, “Trucks stranded on highway for 3 days have been cleared. We hope passenger movement will resume. Water level is receding in city areas”.
