Mumbai, June 12 (ANI): As the monsoon season has approached Mumbai, demand of umbrellas and rain coats is soaring. However, small umbrella manufacturing units are bearing the brunt of COVID-19. The pandemic has hit the industry hard and the owners are staring at the loss. Mitesh Sonawane, an owner of a printing unit at Dharavi area said, “I do printing on umbrellas and raincoats. But due to no fresh orders, we are facing lots of financial problems. These machines are run on electricity and we cannot pay high electricity bills as the business has come down to 10% only”. The industry is also facing shortage of labourers as they have left the city amid the COVID induced lockdown.
