Large number of devotees took a holy dip in the river Ganga at Garhmukteshwar on the occasion of Kartik Purnima, Tuesday.
Sharing a glimpse from Kashi on the occasion of Dev Deepawali, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to the public today.
On Dev Deepawali, almost 21 lakh "diyas" (earthen lamps) lit up Kashi city, of which, crescent shaped banks were illuminated by more than 10 lakh diyas, 84 ghats on the west bank by eight lakh diyas while two lakh diyas were lit on the sands of the east bank.
The city is geared up to light up once again. From 7:30 pm to 7:45 pm, there will be cream-choreographed fireworks on the sand on the other side of Kashi Vishwanath Dham. The projection moral and laser show will be held at Khet Singh Ghat from 8:00 pm to 9:40 pm.
To make Dev Deepawali celebrations grand in Varanasi, the Yogi Adityanath government will illuminate the holy city with 10 lakh diyas and adorn the Kashi Vishwanath Dham with flowers worth Rs 80 lakhs on November 7.
CM Yogi said that the Tamil language originates from Lord Shiva, so there can be no better place for this program than Kashi. The delegation members coming during the program should be welcomed by the Damru team on the first day and the Vedic mantra recitation on the second day.
The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to celebrate Dev Deepawali with 10 lakh earthen lamps, and 3-D projection of religious teachings at Kashi Vishwanath Dham.
