Based on credible information, a joint operation was launched by the Assam Rifles and Sonai Police Station and seized 2500 yaba tablets worth Rs 7.5 lakh.
The arrest came days after Assam Police on February 25 apprehended two from the Karbi Anglong district and seized 2.013 kg of Morphine, valued at Rs 8 Crores in the international market.
Assam Police foiled a smuggling attempt and seized 2000 kg of Burmese Supari (betel nuts) concealed inside of the oil tanker in Cachar district, which was illegally transported from Mizoram.
The accident took place at Old Cachar road at around 10.30 am. The victims were students of the Thambalnu Higher Secondary School located at Yairipok Top Chingtha area in Imphal East.
"The death toll in yesterday's brick kiln chimney collapse at Kalain area in Cachar district has risen to five and six others injured persons are currently undergoing treatment: Numal Mahatta," Superintendent of Police of Cachar district told ANI.
At least two people, including a 12-year-old child, were killed and 7 others injured when a chimney of a brick kiln collapsed on them in Assam's Cachar district on Friday.
