In a crusade against smuggling activities, the operation was carried out by a combined team of the Aizawl Battalion and Excise and Narcotics Department, Aizawl based on specific information.
According to the statement, based on credible information, a joint operation was launched by Assam Rifles' Radhanagar Battalion and Mungiakami Police Station. The team seized 350 kg of marijuana and apprehended a driver named Bhushan Rai alongwith a vehicle."
"The seized consignment was handed over to the Customs department, Champhai on March 14, 2023, for further legal proceedings," Assam Rifles said in a statement on Wednesday.
The basic aim of this event was to guide on career prospects, registration, documentation and recruitment procedure to join Indian Army through the Agniveer scheme 2023.
The official further said that one 9mm Pistol, 2 magazines and 30 rounds of ammunition, 2 Chinese hand grenades and one detonator were recovered from their possession.
